School Dropout Program

TNYC School Dropout Program (SDP) aim is to help students who have no financial support from home due to circumstances such as a single mother/father or parent have pass away and the second group are student who are expel from school from drinking alcohol/smoking other substance used.  The third group are school student boys and girls who are involved with problems such as teenage pregnancy. This year we have started out with nine students from different school.

On May 4 school dropout committee have done a project review to see how the program is doing and how they can make it more accessible for the in- school youth population.

“One of the way that we have identify that can make the program more accessible for our youth who need the program is through the principles” said the SDP secretariat Silia Tuivai “We think by going to the principles of the colleges that we are working with, will help the student who are in these situation access the program.

“For now the program is running but there is a need for coordination” said Silia Tuivai from the Principal association, student association, prefect/ teacher and parents.”

The School Dropout Program is developed to help youth stay in school. Through this program these kids are given another chance to strive toward their dreams.
