Ha’apai Youth Congress

“Ha’apai Youth Congress in Action” A Girlie Camp or Camp glow which it is one of the oldest program to run by Ha’apai Youth Office is schedule to run in June” said HYC office manager Teisa Fakatene “this year our camp will only host youth who are still in school. Basically girls who are in form 2 to form 4. The reason why we choose these level is this is during the school break and we are empowering young women to participate more in other activities that happen in their communities as well as being encourage to be more self sufficient and independent to start making responsible decision in their live.

This is not the first time that HYC have conducted these type of camp to the youth. HYC have done these camps numbers of times in the past but the camp program was put on a hold due to the damage that cyclone Ian had done to the island.

Now in working together with the American Peace Corps, Ha’apai Youth Congress is once again looking forward  to  running the camp to the young women of Haapai once more.

Another activities that HYC office has done “In the past weeks is the Seed Saving Program that the ICS officer Sione. S. ‘Ofa (Field Officer) and Sohei (JICA volunteer to Vava’u Youth Congress) have been planning our organic gardening and Seed Saving Program” said Teisa Fakatene “Shohei is expected to return in June so we will be train in seed saving” .

HYC Office is expected to also work  in the next few weeks wing young people who are starting small home sell out handicraft for tourist in Ha’apai.
