Water Simulation Exercise

On the 1st and 2nd of June TNYC and other WASH Cluster members were involving in a two days training on water response simulation exercise.  The training was conduct by two expertise on Humanitarian Response from OXFAM Australia Mr.  Praphulla Shrestha (WASH Coordinator) and from OXFAM New Zealand Mr.  Carlos Calderon (Humanitarian Coordinator).

 

This two days training is part of the WASH Cluster capacity building training to its member.  The training was divided into two part where by WASH cluster member senior management have a training on Standard Operation Procedures and the Sphere Handbook on Core Humanitarian Standard while the Technical Field Officer have a Hands on training on water pump (Sky hydrants), water distribution and water management.

 

Tonga National Youth Congress, Caritas Tonga and NEMO are working in partnership in this area with preposition stock in NEMO warehouse of water pipe, pump, water bladder, sky hydrant and desalination unit in preparation for a response to water shortage if such disaster struck.

 

The participant of these two-day workshop expresses an interest at the end of the training to conduct a similar training especially for on the field officer so that they will get use to the equipment and can response immediately in time of needs.

 

A very huge thank you to the Town Officer of Kolomotu’a and the household surrounded the Sopu Primary School for their support in allowing the communities and participating in the simulation exercise.  All this training will not be so successful but for the help and support of these families.
